A Car Affair

A Car Affair

ARA INSTITUTE OF CANTERBURY

Cars are a vital piece of mechanical factoring for humans for many reasons. For some people, it is a job, for others it is part of the family history. For me, a car is not just a form of transportation to get me from A to B, but it is an antique and an item that I highly value. Walking out of my flat in Christchurch, one chilly morning, and not seeing my car there made me question myself. Had I left my car at work and walked home? What did I do last night? Whoever stole my car left me questioning everything I had done in the past 24 hours, from my memories to my enemies.

The problem (aside from where was my car?) was why did I feel so heartbroken over a car that I bought for $1200? Then I thought well if I care this much about a 1986 Honda City, then there must be some passionate people with some pretty cool cars out there. That is why I am proposing a campaign/investigation that explores the relationship betweens people and their cars. I will be interviewing and profiling people and their cars.
